Finish 03 of 10
Lime-based plaster applied in thin layers and burnished by hand to a soft, almost wet-looking sheen. It has been the finish of Italian palazzi for five centuries and it changes a room more than any paint colour can.
The finish
A single Venetian plaster wall gives a room a focal point. The texture shifts as the light moves, so the room never looks quite the same twice.
Polished plaster is built up in several thin coats, each one compressed with a steel trowel until the surface tightens and begins to shine. The result is cool and smooth to the touch with a depth that comes from the layers beneath. We work from feature walls to full rooms, in any colour and any sheen from chalky matte to high polish.

Questions
No. Microcement is cement-based and matte; Venetian plaster is lime-based and can be burnished to a sheen. We use both and will suggest the one that suits the room.
Yes, with the right sealer. For shower enclosures we recommend microcement; for the rest of the bathroom plaster works beautifully.
It is harder than paint and skims well. If it is ever damaged it can be repaired locally and re-polished.
